Brotherhood - what a schism! |
|
Brotherhood shotherhood - it's all a schism What do I care - you're more or less bed-ridden! Stuck in a hole of death & decay, You're a bidati my brother - wot else is there to say?! I don't care if you suffer, if u get stuck or u bleed, I saw you back in the day, dealing in crack n weed You're out of the picture, I think ur a kaafir, Keep well away from me, I don't want to be a munaafiq. You pray so differently, I'm sure ur a devil. U aint nothing like me - me n my 'brothaz' are on the level.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. |

What do you see when you look at me Do you see someone limited, or someone free All some people can do is just look and stare Simply because they can't see my hair Others think I am controlled and uneducated They think that I am limited and un-liberated They are so thankful that they are not me Because they would like to remain 'free' |

The Stranger Who Came into Our House - Story |
|
Written by a Muslim brother, for a nationwide essay competition in Canada. Needless to say, he took the first prize. A few months before I was born, my dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer, and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around to welcome me into the world a few months later. As I grew up, I never questioned his place in our family. In my young mind, each member had a special niche. My brother, Bilal, five years my senior, was my example. Fatimah, my younger sister, gave me an opportunity to play big brother and develop the art of teasing. My parents were complementary instructors- Mom taught me to love the word of Allah, and Dad taught me to obey it. |

'The Dinner' (well worth the read) |
The brisk morning air felt refreshing over Hassan's forehead as he arose for the dawn prayer. As he finished the final tasleem of prayer and sat on his prayer rug, he thought about the wonders of Allah's Mercy and how Allah had gifted him with Islam while he was still only 20 years old. He found it hard to believe that only two years ago, he was a typical college guy who had little regard for family, neighbors, or community.
He was once so self-centered, and now he dreamed of the Noble Prophet's character in dealing with people. Reading about the manners and morals of the Prophet is what convinced him to accept Islam.
Although Hassan was new to Islam and new to his community, he was busy planning all kinds of activities for his MSA (Muslim Student Association). He had already participated in dawah (propagation) events at the university that went very well. In the long breaks between studying and classes, Hassan made it his duty to study Islam as often as possible and to be active in the small college community.

Peacocks have Ugly Feet - A Story |
|
Nesreen banged the tube of toothpaste into the bathroom sink and rinsed the toothbrush under the cold water. Drops of mint toothpaste adorned the little glass shelf above the sink. She squeezed out the cloth and wiped the shelf clean. The little pink roses on the ceramic, matched perfectly with the pink flowers on her apron. Her hands were shaking and she felt an uncontrollable wave of anger surging through her body.
“Wait til that boy gets home,” she said aloud. |

|
A poem by British political prisoner, Babar Ahmad
As long as You are not angry with me then I do not care For me is the model of Musab bin Umayr The best dressed man in the city But that was for him a state of pity Until there came to him the Message All did he leave of his privilege For the sake of Allah and His Beloved

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. £We must do something about Grandfather," said the son. “I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.” So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. |
